It’s back to school time and even without kids in my home, I still feel a little bit of the “fresh start” vibes. So, my tip this week is more of a challenge. Look around. Can you find a few things (even in arm’s reach) that have been nagging at you to do? Most of these will take less than 15 minutes. Stop procrastinating the little things and spend 5 minutes today working through those things that never seem to get done. You’ll probably find that it feels so good that you will want to do it again tomorrow! My list would include mending, ironing, sorting the mail, filing the stack of papers that has accumulated or dejunking a drawer. So many of these things feel like they will take forever or maybe they don’t feel that important. BUT, the reality is that they don’t take that long. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in 5 minutes!!
Another way to stop putting off the little things that works well for me is to keep a physical or mental list of things that are easy to do while I am on the phone (wiping down baseboards and walls? empty the dishwasher?) and do a little multi tasking while I catch up with the kids. (You may want to check out this quick tip for cutting out background noise) Let me know how you go!! What did you accomplish in five minutes?
Nice chatting – I’m off to file that stack of papers that has been accumulating for too long….
