I don’t know about you but there have been plenty of days in my life when I’ve made a “To Do” list and not completed it – or worse, done nothing on it! Now, that it isn’t because I sat around all day eating chocolate and doing nothing. I admit that I might have gotten distracted or didn’t pay attention to the list or had other things come up that were more urgent than the things on my list. I am sure a productivity expert would have a heyday critiquing how many times I get off task. I promise though, I’m just doing something else that also needs to be done-and I may actually have ADHD but at this point in my life, I’m not going to bother with treating it but I digress….. Back to “To Do” lists! Not finishing tasks on a list can be discouraging, especially when other things come up that really do supersede what you initially set out to do. A solution to uncompleted “To Do” lists is a “Done” list. Instead of listing what you want to get done during the day, create a list of things you have done as you finish them. It helps you focus on what you did instead of what didn’t get completed. “To Do” lists are great for keeping us on task so I am not saying to just throw them out the window. You can make a “To Do” list and then add things to it as you do them, creating a combination “To Do/Done” list.
So give it a go. For the next week, make a “Done” list. You’ll be amazed at what you accomplish!
