Let’s talk about laundry. Everyone has to do it. Since we became empty nesters, it’s gotten much easier. Personally, I don’t mind laundry so much. But I know that isn’t the case for everyone. I’ve got a great laundry stain remover recipe for you as well as a couple of things that help me not feel overwhelmed by laundry and let me tell you, doing nine people’s laundry was not a small task!
- Have baskets or bins in your laundry room and sort the laundry every day or so (darks, mediums, whites).
- Do a couple of loads on a regular basis and don’t worry about finishing all of the laundry in one day.
- Fold the clothes, etc. as you take them out of the dryer. Tossing the laundry into a laundry basket or on the couch just delays the inevitable and piles up work. Handling a load at a time and having a spot to stack each person’s folded laundry, maybe in the laundry room, works well.
And here is the best part of this week’s tip; It’s a recipe for a stain remover. It gets out old stains – even those nasty pit stains on white shirts. I keep an old sour cream container, a plastic spoon and all of the ingredients for the stain remover in my laundry room so that I can mix up this remover in a jiffy. One caution: On dark clothing, do a spot check on the inside of a hem to check for colorfastness prior to using the stain remover on a conspicuous place. Happy laundering!
