Why Empty Nest Home Exec?
I’ve had side hustles. I even worked a real part time job for a few years, but the vast majority of my adult life I have done work in my home, largely without pay. It’s a privileged place to be. I haven’t HAD to have a paying job. But despite having this gift, I am somehow always searching for “what I want to be when I grow up.” I have felt society telling me that being a homemaker is not enough. But simultaneously I have been unwilling to give up the lifestyle I and my family enjoy through my efforts in the home. So here I am – a stay-at-home-mom with no kids left at home. I’m finally ready to admit that home is where I want to be, and what I do at home is valuable to my family and my community. I still work hard, but my role is different than it has been in the past.
This blog aims to support others who have made this choice by helping you serve your family and community with intention and joy.
-Kim
Kim and I have been friends for years. Actually, since before I had children and she had just one. Now, over 30 years later, we have 11 children and 7 grandchildren between the two of us. I have felt so many of the things Kim describes above and I am so excited to bring this blog to you with her.
We want to encourage, support, and push empty nesters to embrace their strengths, capitalize on them, magnify them, and take them to the next level.
Welcome to Empty Nest Home Exec!
